“You’re Not Alone” (or YNA) is our Teen Mental Health education (evidence-based) program and social media campaign designed to train local youth to understand that the words, “mental health” are not bad words; and it is OK and important for youth to seek help from a trusted adult when they feel overwhelmed, stressed, or depressed.
This program teaches skills that help reduce anxiety and encourage confidence; therefore, YNA enables youth to focus on living in the present, rather than ponder on things that are beyond their control. As trained and certified YNA Student Ambassadors, participants are equipped with the tools that help gradually reduce the stigma surrounding mental illnesses.
The overall goal of the YNA program is to prevent youth from succumbing to potential thoughts or actions involving drugs, alcohol, risky behavior and/or suicide.
The program consists of a series of five 1-hour training seminars taught to groups of students at their respective high schools.
Be Free Lake is grateful to the Women's Giving Alliance and Lake County Schools for their support!
